We’ve seen a lot of people running into problems with Magento Theme installs and general info so here’s a few tips!
Install Tips:
When installing Magento it is always a good idea to install using the full install package from magentocommerce.com and not the downloader.. Why?
Well Magento is always being updated, because, to be honest it’s still an infant. I remember an error when 1.4 was released that you couldn’t check out because they had left out a line of Javascript. Sometimes the Downloader won’t actually download and install the latest version. Hence why I say to download the full version yourself and install using that.
Theme Install Tips:
When installing a new Magento theme it’s always a good idea to be doing so on a Fresh Install of Magento. It can be done on an existing site but it can be a real pain in the ass and sometimes f*** up your site, I’ve seen it happen before. So remember Fresh Install and a Fresh Database..
Magento Cache Tips:
Magento runs on a very intensive Cache system so whenever you’re making changes to you’re site it is always best to disable the entire cache. This can be done by going to System-Cache Management.
Magento Speed Tips:
By nature Magento is hard on a servers RAM, I wouldn’t recommend running a live Magento site on any type of Shared Server or Grid Server. You should only run Magento on a dedicated virtual or VPS. There is also an extension that will boost you’re stores speed called “Magento Booster” we have it in this section.
Magento has a very nice guide that you can find on they’re site for like $30 but luckily I have it for you!

Download the ZIP from within your account settings
Unzip this ZIP in the root of your Magento site (through FTP or SSH)
Login to the Magento Admin Panel
Clean the Configuration Cache
Usage
Backup your database
Login to the Magento Admin Panel
Navigate to System > Tools > Delete Any Order
Select one or more orders to delete
Confirm the deletion by pressing Delete
Warning: Be careful when deleting orders
Deleting orders using this module is destructive and irreversible. You need a valid backup before you continue. Also if the financial transaction relating to this order is valid, make sure you have a financial administration that deals with this accordingly.
